I am creating this blog so that people can post their beef with their respective pharmacy program. Please submit your comments, as I am sure they will be hilarious and quite vulgar. PLEASE DO NOT INCLUDE NAMES. Those posts will be deleted.
Cheers

Ya, like WTF is up with learning about how doctors get paid?? We pay $2,000,000 a semester to learn how much more money physicians make instead of advocating for our own salaries. Good Job.
Let's not forget too how we are going to be such awesome pharmacists that we'll also be programmers designing computer systems that no one we'll use instead to learning about drugs. And we'll also prevent the holes in swiss cheese from lining to stop ourselves from being attacked by laser beams.
if i wanted to streak plates and do a catalase tests i would have worked in a lab for 15 dollars an hour after undergrad to streak plates, now i pay them to streak plates. I sometimes look in the mirror and laugh at who i have become and other times i cry.
I pay for a monday seminar where i sit and for 50 mins just think about when she will take attendence.
When i was young i had inspirations i wanted to be better. I wanted to actually do something with my life. But i feel like the this school is a bully beating up my soul and heart everyday with information i will never need to know if i wanted to make a difference.
So consider this my academic suicide for I can no longer look at swiss cheese, blank slides, or multiple choice questions where a,b but not C is a correct choice.
Not only that but they preach leadership, change and advocation. Yet they stifle it when it comes to our views on improvement for the program.
I feel like a pharmacy Frankenstein, things have just been added on that seemed like a good idea but the core principles have been lost.
Who is evaluating what we are taught?
2 million?? really??
round up to $10,000/semester
round up to 120 students per class
$10,000 x 120 = 1.2 million
okasA7, what about when 2 or more classes are there? Let's not get technical.
I agree with Danger Laser. How many people saw "microbiology advice" in the data of growth of pharmacy services? Last time I checked, Pharmacokinetic consultation, Drug protocol management, Drug Information and Drug Safety are among the top growing areas for pharmacists. You want to teach us about evidence based research? Read into your own evidence once and a while, and teach us what we need to know to be knockout pharmacist. No wonder we don't get the respect we deserve in the community. You think Med Students are culturing bacteria? Get bent. More clinical knowledge less BS!! And I don't mean blended salary model either.
That money sure didn't buy copyright access to the textbooks we require. Like seriously, we've resorted to taking pics of slides.....really??
REeeeeallllYYYY?????
Anonymous, it's not so much about how bad it is. It is more about how much better it could be. Complacency leads to stagnation and that is not what we need in the profession of pharmacy.
to the poet...
its sheep like you, which is why this program is not reaching it optimal educational outcomes
we have a classroom filled of ~114 students who were leaders in their own right before entering the program. But the boring lectures, dull material, and tedious tasks (micro lab) have drained us. On countless occasions i have heard the request for changes without seeing any results.
I came to this school to learn about pharmacy not about who i am by taking the myers-briggs test, not help in community events that i have no passion for (PhIG), and not by some professors who dont want to drive to class the next day so they rush through a lecture
Also saying that the program is not too bad is not a strong argument. I don't want to be a pharmacist who isn't too bad, and I get that the responsibility is on me as well but we came to this school for a reason.
I want to be able to say the program is amazing. (And to be honest I would rate it as better than "not too bad" but there is always room for improvement)
I agree with everything in the post above. Well said ONEoftheasians.
i am not stagnant
this rhyme is only a fragment
of the advocacy i promote
it could fill a whole boat!
your blog's a big deal?
angry pharmacy student, get real.
if you want to complain,
do it right, don't abstain
there are proper means of advocacy and change,
ones that don't involve minor internet exchange.
there are those willing to listen,
have some hope! you'll see what you're missin'
peace out, this is over.
my 'sheep' needs to go eat some clover.
BAAAAAAAA.

As said by T of A:
It's funny how we've become the punching bag of every professor out there and the only way they can relieve the stress of their occupation is to take it out on students by being extremely sadistic on the so called 'standards'. They're not on our side at all because they want to preserve their so called 'job security'. I thought we were supposed to be 'working as a team' both students and teachers as colleagues, rather having them kicking us down.
Finally...a prof that agrees that social networking via blogging is the way to go!!
WOOOOOOTT!!!
Social networking would be great for pharmacy students if they had time to actually develop a social network while they are in school.
roses are red
violets are blue
the blog is back
where are you ?
HOW DO WE COMMUNICATE?
Chainsaw tueday night
this program has good and bad
in fairness, we've reason to be mad
the redundant effort of the bacterial streak
so who has time to grocery shop every week?
promote lifestyle changes and eat right
but i stay at home as my ass collects cellulite...
disorganized labs, assignments till you choke
I can say, delivery is a joke
no wonder we get no respect
this profession can't even inject
i was told this program was the best
in reality, it's worst than the rest
you may feel this program has nothing wrong
and no surprise, you were accused of following along
the profession that you promote?
did i miss where your name was wrote?
if you've got time to rhyme
step up to the front line
You know it's sad when some faculty are also confuzzled by pharmacy students doing micro labs. "I have never heard of a pharmacist requiring any knowledge about microbiology labs or tests"
--Micro should be focusing on antibiotics and antiviral medications for infectious diseases. Whatever, I'll just use vancomycin for everything...
So it's 11:57pm. Just starting to study for tomorrow's 10am computers exam. FML.
WTF are we studying computers for again?
BCMA = Brownies and cupcake making accessories
advantages: easier to make brownies and cupcakes, dont have to buy brownies and cupcakes at the store
Some common warning signs include:
Has trouble eating or sleeping - Have you cooked a healthy meal for yourself lately? Or how about at least 6-7 hours of sleep, let alone 8 in the month of October. If so, please tell me how.
Experiences drastic changes in behavior - laughing hysterically everyday, at 9am before an exam that probably only able to study for 3 hours in advance on mininmal sleep? starting random blogs? mohawks? outbursts in class and after exams? excessive foosball?
Withdraws from friends or social activities - whether forced or not, pharmacy school makes sure this happens; having to back out of extracurricular activities last minute, stop exercise activities or other hobbies...
Relationship difficulties including a recent loss or threat of significant loss - having a hard time keeping friends outside of pharmacy school because you're too busy to be able to chat with them
Loses interest in their personal appearance - several people have not showered in days...
Increases their use of alcohol or drugs - ya....when you're looking forward to McCabe's at 11am after your exam...
Expresses a sense of hopelessness - it's hopeless to have a social life in pharmacy school
Is faced with a situation of humiliation or failure - failure on exams that don't test your therapeutic knowledge whatsoever (ie. microbiology and computers)
Performance difficulties - on exams that are spaced too closely together
Legal or financial trouble - $8700/semester of tuition
Warning signs? Wait...what?
for all you angry pharmers, this is just the beginning of a major shit storm...wait until finals when we got 5 finals in a row!!! wooooo!! its okay we dont need sleep, o well its probably better I can focus on IPFC and can skip studying the rest of the bullshit courses of this program
I dont know why everyone is so upset i sleep 8 hours a night during exam time, I get to eat pizza EVERYDAY. LIFE IS GOOD. I LOVE Pharmacy SCHOOL.
How do you manage to sleep 8 hours a night??????????
SO SICK
I am a god damn engineer!!!
Can we have a pot luck at town hall??
PHARMACY SCHOOL IS SO AWESOME I LOVE BREAKING A MENTAL SWEAT EVERYNIGHT OF THE WEEK
I AGREE MENTAL SWEATS ARE A GREAT WAY TO SPEND A NIGHT. SCHOOL IS AWESOME.
HI I also agree pharmacy school is the best. I dont need friends when you have therapeutic knowledge to keep you happy.
can we get red bull in the vending machine?
anyone think school uniforms would save us time so we can study harder and not worry about looking good?
I agree, pharmacy school has replaced my need for friends outside of pharmacy school. Those friends were just terrible influences anyway. They went grocery shopping regularly, exercised and participated in social activities occasionally. Good thing pharmacy school took that choice away, it was tough making those decisions every week.
I agree, red bull uniforms would be the best.
Yes UNIFORMS would be a great idea.
DRESS in black for the town hall to show unity and the darkness of our souls
Even with voting our program isn't a democracy.....feels like the Canadian government. There's a majority, but nothing gets done because 3 people already had plans to skip class....
PHUA: i voted no
You have a soul left to show?!?!
I wish they gave us more assignments like the bar coding assignment. What pharmacist wouldn't want to talk about bar coding for 4 pages single spaced? It's so exciting and relevant.
apparently HCPs should run away and take a break if they make a mistake that leads to patient harm, no need to apologize... ---lesson learned from our patient safety course
So I was looking on a website about medical professions and I came across this....
http://www.topmedicalprofessions.com/
whats missing?
i recently learned we have a student member on the curriculum board? Did anyone else know this position existed and how was it chosen?
Since in our program, we can ask to change midterm/final exams scheduling, I have a few requests for future terms.
Can we have all labs, seminars, midterms, finals exams...everything mandatory between Tuesday and Thursday? Because I like to potentially have Monday and Friday off (because I might be tired) and have an extra long weekend.
I didn't realize pharmacy school was going to be this easy. Changing scheduling to suite my life. I guess I can do this too when I'm out in the real world. I am sure
my employer will understand. Right?
^ what a dick
can we move the classes to the GTA because that would be better for me, also can we have colouring books.
if none of us writes the computer exam they cant fail us all OCCUPY people
As a matter of fact, you can change your schedule in the 'real world' to accommodate your life. Ever book off for holidays? Have a birth or death in the family and took time off for that?
If you think pharmacy school is easy, then you have a) obviously no life outside of this glass house b) are a genius and/or c) enjoy stressing yourself out.
I bet you started studying on wednesday for our past IPFC exam and I probably still did better than you.
Come to the town hall meeting next time and find out that our class is trying to unite, not have little buggers like you be the sole source of resistance for change.
wanna know what grinds my gears. People that take an entire study room for themself and when you walk by they give you the old "ya bitch want some look through the glass"
